Description
"Forensic Science is the application of science to the law and encompasses various scientific disciplines. The course will provide the student with detailed knowledge of subjects underpinning forensic science in the borad areas of Biology, Chemistry, and Investigation. It will explore ways in which a forensic case is investigated at both the scene and in the laboratory. It will also look at techniques used by forensic biologists and chemists, and use many examples of criminal cases where forensic evidence was particualr importance. Tentative topics would include but not to be restricted to: Crime Scene Analysis, Significance and Properties of Physical Evidence, Arson, Explosion Investigation, Forensic Serology, DNA Evidence, Fingerprinting, Document and Voice Evidence, Forensic Science and Internet Investigation. When possible, forensic professionals will be utilized in the classroom to enrich discussion."
