Elementary Chinese I

This introductory course is designed for students with no or minimal proficiency in Chinese (non-heritage speakers). Mandarin Chinese, the official language spoken by the majority of the world’s Chinese population, will be taught in Romanized form (pinyin). The emphasis is on speaking, listening comprehension and basic conversational skills. Students will also be exposed to the Chinese writing system and learn Chinese characters. The minimum technological requirements for fully online sections of this course are a working camera and microphone. Students are expected to turn on cameras and microphones at their instructor's request.
